Richard A. Foster was recently awarded a 2020 AIA TN Presidential Award of Excellence in recognition of his continued contributions to enhance and improve the profession of Architecture and AIA Tennessee. As the 2021 incoming President for AIA TN, Richard has held leadership positions both regionally and state-wide. He has advocated for positive changes in our field, and led many outreach initiatives for the organization, including – a month long celebration of architecture in April. In 2018, he was recognized as a regional champion for AIA National’s Blueprint for Better program.

 

Kathryn Greer has been selected as part of the , presented by Lincoln Memorial University. This is the 14th class that Knox.biz, formerly the Greater Knoxville Business Journal, has honored. Kathryn has always been a firm believer in the importance of art and its integration into our built environments through thoughtful design practices. She has brought this approach to her role at MHM and her various community organizations in which she is involved.

MHM is excited to welcome a new member to the team.

Michelle Benjamin is a thoughtful designer with a degree in Interior Design from the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD). She believes in design that honors people, place, and culture, and that together successful architecture and interiors respond to the psychological, social, and physical needs of the people inhabiting a space. Through an intentional and collaborative approach, Michelle enthusiastically connects her client’s wants and needs with evidence-based research and a physical design solution that is accessible to all.

VIRTUAL PARKING DAY 2020

looked a little different this year! MHM had the opportunity to partner with for the virtual event. The team chose to address the urban design challenge of a truly connected network of multi-modal travel throughout the city of Knoxville. The resulting modular design, S.M.A.R.T., allows for flexibility of installation throughout the city and county, while being adaptable as needs change.

ASPIRE PROGRESS CONTINUES

We are excited to the see the Aspire Market Exchange Pavilion taking shape at the new ASPIRE Park in Clinton, Tennessee!

MHM is serving as the Architect of Record along with PORT Urbanism (Design Architect)  on the 400-acre  in Clinton, Tennessee which will serve as a regional destination park to enjoy the beautiful East Tennessee landscape in a variety of recreational opportunities. Located along the Clinch River, the new park includes a 22,000-sf visitors’ center (Onward and Upward Center); a 5,000-sf boat house/kayak launch; a 200-ft long Market Exchange Pavilion (pictured here); a 1.5-acre signature playground; a 2-acre bike pump-track and skills course; an 8-acre wildflower meadow; nearly 2,500 newly planted trees; 18 miles of bike and hiking trails; and a canopy walk overlook structure wrapping an existing on-site water tank with spectacular views of the Smoky Mountains to the south. The 25-acre Phase 1 of the park is set to open in 2021.
