As Covid-19 continues to be a concern, MHM is remaining steadfast in our dedication to the health and safety of employees, while delivering quality projects to our clients.

While many are continuing to work remotely, companies are making plans for office adjustments as more people head . At MHM, we have taken measures including health screenings, additional dividers between workstations, and protocols for social distancing within the office. In addition to these short-term solutions, we are taking this opportunity to rethink the way we design spaces for the long term. 

Throughout our industry, . Not only will the pandemic undoubtedly have a lasting impact on the way our spaces are designed, but also the way we interact with both our work area and each other.

LAUDERDALE CO. AGRICULTURE EVENT CENTER

MHM looks forward to beginning the design process for the Lauderdale County Agricultural Events Center in Florence, Alabama. The new center will be a multi-use community facility to accommodate a wide variety of uses and events including concerts, rodeos, graduations, athletic competitions, family entertainment shows, as well as livestock and equestrian competitions and events. The master plan also envisions the development of a new state VoTech educational facility, retail, hotels, exhibition center, livestock arena/barn and RV camping to augment this multi-venue complex. MHM is working with equestrian and event expert Charles D. Smith Architecture & Planning; landscape architect, IBI Placemaking and Volkert Inc. as construction manager.

MHM is excited to add two new members to the team.

Courtney St. John graduated from the Ohio State University with a B.S. in Architecture. She worked for a few years in Columbus, OH gaining experience in commercial work and became an active member of AIA Ohio. With the desire to broaden her knowledge in the field, she continued her education and received a Master’s in Architecture from the University of Tennessee. Her appreciation for sustainability, detail, and creativity allows her to bring a holistic approach to every project.

Zherti Jasa is a recent graduate from the University of Tennessee with a Master’s of Architecture and a Bachelor’s of Science in Interior Architecture. She is a passionate designer that works diligently to understand and practice all facets of design. Her work experience ranges from architectural, landscape, interior design, and construction firms which has allowed her to bring a well-rounded design approach to every project.

MARRIOTT CONVERSION UPDATE

MHM is excited to see progress underway at the downtown Marriott Conversion. The Marriott is a two-phase, hotel brand conversion with Blaine Construction as CM and Interior Designers Stonehill Taylor. The project includes site improvements, exterior façade and mechanical system upgrades, and a full lobby and guestroom renovation. The banquet halls on the park level will receive a full renovation as well, including an expanded ballroom space.

In addition to the hotel renovation, the public focused areas adjacent to both the Marriott and The Tennessean will get a major facelift. A new entry between the two hotels will feature local muralists’ work, while openings along the World’s Fair Park Façade will connect the renovated interior spaces to the park. Newly branded program including a local coffee shop, restaurant and gameroom, and a retail area showcasing local makers will breathe new life into the currently underutilized space.

LOOKING TO THE FUTURE

As our team begins the transition back to the office, we will continue to employ the various tools and adaptability we’ve developed during our work from home phase to evolve our “new normal”.  So far, we’ve been able to implement several new platforms to engage and communicate with clients and partners scattered across the country.  As we continue strict social distancing, technology has also facilitated job site monitoring and communication, by allowing us to virtually share the site visits we conduct with the full design team.  By incorporating Momento360 technology into our construction administration process, we’ve been able to collaborate on a complete review of progress for several projects, including the highly anticipated .
